Daily Prompt: “Do You Promise?”

via Daily Prompt: Promises

“You promise?”

“I promise.”

Common exchanges between lovers and friends, collegaues and allies, but what does it really mean to promise?

According to www.dictionary.com/browse/, promise is defined as, a declaration that something will or will not be done. A promise is meant to be a scared vow, someone’s word that will not be broken. Ultimately though, how many promises are broken every hour of every day?

I’ve learned the hard way that not all promises are kept; scared vows are not so sacred to some. In this heartbreaking dissapointment I’ve learned it most important to keep the promises I make to myself.

I’ve promised to be the best mother, wife, and me that I possibly can be. Only by keeping these promises can I be succesful and happy, and restore faith in the sanctity of what it means to make a promise and keep it.
